Industrialist Venu Srinivasan has been reappointed as a life trustee at the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT). The trustees made this collective decision on Wednesday, just a day before his earlier three-year term was set to end.
Tata Trusts holds a controlling 66% stake in Tata Sons. The decision made on 17th October 2024 confirmed that trustees whose terms expire will be reappointed, with lifetime appointments reviewed once trustees reach 75 years of age.
Srinivasan’s ongoing term, initially set to end on 23rd October 2025, now extends into a lifetime appointment. This marks his elevation within one of Tata Group’s most prominent charitable institutions, strengthening his long-standing association with the Trust.
Venu Srinivasan is a prominent figure in the automotive industry, especially in the two-wheeler sector. He has made a lasting impact through TVS Group, one of India’s leading two-wheeler companies with significant market influence.
Srinivasan was earlier reappointed as the honorary chairman of TVS Group. The company holds over 17% market share in the two-wheeler segment and recorded a 20% revenue rise in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
Srinivasan also serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple, contributing to the restoration of ancient temples across India. In 2022, he was also appointed a non-official director on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India in 2022
Venu Srinivasan completed his schooling at Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai. He graduated from the College of Engineering, Guindy, and later earned a Master of Science in Management from Purdue University in Indiana, United States.
