Meta Platforms announced Dina Powell McCormick as its new President and Vice Chairman on January 12, 2026, marking a key leadership shift as the company sharpens its artificial intelligence (AI) growth strategy.
McCormick is a seasoned industry executive, having an experience of 16 years in senior roles at Goldman Sachs, before serving as Vice Chairman, President and Head of Global Client Services at BDT & MSD Partners.
She also served as deputy national security adviser during Donald Trump’s first presidential term, giving her strong ties within the federal administration, which Meta sees as valuable for future collaborations.
Earlier, she also resigned from Meta’s board in December 2025, before rejoining the company in an executive capacity, underscoring Meta’s move to strengthen senior leadership oversight of its long-term expansion strategy.
As President and Vice Chairman, McCormick will help shape Meta’s broader strategy, concentrating on AI infrastructure, building capital partnerships and strengthening investor relationships, while reporting directly to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
The appointment aims to support Meta’s need for large-scale financing, as the company relies on strategic capital partnerships, according to the company, to fund massive data centre construction and long-term AI initiatives.
Meta is also ramping up investment in AI infrastructure, building multiple gigawatt-sized data centres across the United States, including plans to expand its Louisiana facility to five gigawatts, according to an agency report.
Meanwhile, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has committed $600 billion towards infrastructure over the coming years, while the company has already raised tens of billions of dollars in external funding to support these large-scale projects.
