Shailesh Chandra has been appointed as the new managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of Tata Motors. He will take charge for three years starting October 1, 2025, focusing on passenger vehicles and fast-growing electric mobility.

Who is Shailesh Chandra?

Chandra, currently joint MD of passenger vehicles and passenger electric mobility, has been with Tata Motors since 1995, starting as a production manager before moving across several leadership roles.

Between 2013 and 2016, Chandra worked at Tata Sons in the group chairman’s office, first as general manager of group strategy and later as assistant vice president (VP).

Chandra rejoined Tata Motors in 2016 as head of corporate strategy and business transformation, later becoming president of the passenger vehicle and electric mobility units, leading Tata’s electrification drive.
