Viral Damania has been appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of IndusInd Bank, effective September 22, 2025, marking a significant leadership change at the private sector lender.
With the appointment of Viral Damania, Santosh Kumar will no longer hold the additional responsibilities of Special Officer for Finance & Accounts, nor retain his designation as a Key Managerial Personnel (KMP). He will continue serving as the bank’s Deputy CFO.
Damania is a Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, Cost & Works Accountant, and holds ISACA certification in Information Systems Audit and Control, demonstrating a strong professional and technical background.
With over 27 years in banking and professional services, Damania previously served as CFO at Bank of America India and has held senior positions at Citibank NA.
Damania’s experience also includes branch oversight and board membership at BofA Securities India, membership in the country leadership team, and earlier leadership roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The leadership change follows former IndusInd Bank CFO Gobind Jain’s allegations against bank Chairman Sunil Mehta, calling for his suspension and an independent probe into accounting discrepancies.
Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank has strongly denied the allegations made by former CFO Gobind Jain, stating the claims are unsubstantiated while leadership restructuring continues.
