On Wednesday, Microsoft named Judson Althoff, its Chief Commercial Officer, as CEO of the commercial business, letting Satya Nadella, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, focus more on technology and innovation.
Judson Althoff joined Microsoft in 2013, after holding senior sales leadership roles at Oracle Corporation and EMC Corporation, a leading data storage and IT solutions company, before heading Microsoft’s global commercial operations.
Judson Althoff also holds a position on Ecolab’s board as an independent director, contributing his expertise as a member of the company’s Audit and Finance Committee.
Althoff will head a newly created organisation that merges sales, marketing, and operations into one unified structure, designed to strengthen Microsoft’s commercial strategy and customer engagement.
Meanwhile, CEO Satya Nadella said the reorganisation will allow him and engineering leaders to focus on technical priorities across datacenter buildout, systems architecture, AI science, and product innovation, while managing today’s commercial business and navigating the ongoing AI platform shift.
According to the company, under Judson Althoff’s leadership, the commercial cloud business has achieved steady, uninterrupted growth, driven by strong customer partnerships and a focus on real business outcomes through artificial intelligence (AI).
Judson Althoff, graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, according to his LinkedIn profile.
