In 2025, amid advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI), leading tech companies like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon have cut thousands of jobs worldwide, marking a difficult year for IT workers.
From Amazon to Microsoft, major tech companies have cut thousands of jobs in 2025. Here are the top five firms involved in significant layoffs this year.
Intel is expected to cut up to 5,500 jobs in 2025, impacting software engineers and senior staff. The move is aimed at streamlining operations and aligning with shifting market demands.
As part of its restructuring, Intel has already laid off 107 employees in California and plans to eliminate over 500 roles in Oregon. The semiconductor giant is adjusting its workforce strategy.

Google is reportedly cutting 25% of its 300-member smart TV team, affecting both Google TV and Android TV. The move comes alongside a 10% budget cut, as the company redirects focus and resources towards Artificial Intelligence initiatives.
