Tech giant Google is experimenting with new Gemini AI capabilities, such as importing chats, verifying video content and downloading higher-resolution images. These tools are still in early testing and not widely accessible.
According to TestingCatalog, Gemini’s new “Import AI chats” feature lets users upload conversation histories from services like ChatGPT, helping preserve context when switching between different AI platforms.
Imported chats and continued conversations are stored in Gemini’s Activity section. Google may use this information to improve its services, including training generative AI models, which could raise privacy concerns for users.
Another new “Likeness” option in Gemini connects to a Video Verification page. It appears designed to check or analyse videos, potentially tackling issues with AI-generated or manipulated content.
Gemini AI now also supports downloading images in higher resolutions, including 2K and 4K. The highest quality option is optimised for print, providing users with richer, detailed media outputs.
Meanwhile, Google’s chat import feature aims to make moving between AI platforms seamless, helping users retain ongoing conversations for work, research or personal AI interactions.
The import notice informs users that uploaded chats may be used to improve Google’s AI services. Users should consider privacy implications before uploading past conversations to Gemini.
However, all features are currently in beta testing. Screenshots show additions across Gemini’s menus and settings, signalling Google’s intent to enhance AI usability and multimedia support.
