Synology has launched the PAS7700, a high-performance all-flash NVMe storage system aimed at enterprise workloads, featuring dual-controller architecture, support for up to 48 NVMe SSDs, and robust data protection features
Synology enters high-end NVMe market
Synology, a Taiwan headquartered corporation specialising in network-attached storage (NAS) appliances has unveiled a new all-flash storage system aimed at enterprise workloads, thereby venturing more into the high-performance NVMe, or Non-Volatile Memory Express segment. The company’s latest release, the PAS7700 revealed at Computex 2025, Taipei features an active-active dual-controller architecture that has been designed to target mission-critical applications requiring low latency and continuous availability.

NVM Express (NVMe) or Non-Volatile Memory Express, has been emerging as a critical standard in the evolution of computer storage technology. Officially known as the Non-Volatile Memory Host Controller Interface Specification (NVMHCIS), this has been designed to streamline and efficient way to access non-volatile storage media, typically connected via the high-speed PCI Express (PCIe) bus.
PAS7700 is the culmination of Synology’s 25 years of engineering experience in data management and storage,” said Kenneth Hsu, Director of the System Group at Synology. “By combining our deep software and hardware development expertise with close collaboration with partners and enterprise customers, we’ve engineered PAS7700 to deliver ultra-high performance at a price point previously unseen in the enterprise storage market.”
As data demands continue to grow across industries, NVMe is poised to be at the forefront of high-performance storage solutions.
The PAS7700 combines hardware design with support for key enterprise protocols, which include NVMe over Fabrics (NVMe-oF), and boasts support for up to 48 NVMe SSDs within a 4U chassis. The system is scalable up to 1.65 petabytes (1650 TB) of raw storage that could be availed through additional expansion units and offers memory upgrade options up to 2,048GB across the system.
Synology has positioned the PAS7700 as one of the most significant viable options for large-scale enterprises, citing performance figures of up to 2 million IOPS and 30GB/s in sequential throughput.
The system also incorporates built-in data protection features which will offer immutable snapshots and multi-site replication to safeguard data integrity. These features have been included keeping in mind that due to ransomware threats, compliance requirements need to be even more stringent to shape IT procurement priorities.
Notably, the new system has been designed to work with Synology’s broader software suite, including Synology Drive and Office. As per the company, there will be performance gain of up to three times the concurrent user capacity compared to the company’s existing hardware stack. As highlighted by the company during the press briefing, the new system has been designed particularly for the sectors like defense, semiconductor and aviation.

Synology has traditionally proved itself to be a challenger brand in enterprise storage, and the PAS7700 signals a deeper push into territory dominated by more established enterprise storage vendors. Whether the company will succeed in converting its base of SMB and midmarket customers into enterprise adopters will depend in part on its ability to demonstrate sustained performance and support at scale.
The PAS7700 is expected to be available in the second half of 2025 in most of the countries including India. Although the pricing details have not yet been disclosed, the company assured that the pricing will be kept competitive to ensure better market reach across the globe.
