Fresher Hiring in Tech to Double in FY26, IT Sector Leads with 53% Growth

Hiring of fresher in the technology services sector is expected to double in the next fiscal year, as compared to this fiscal year, according to The Economic Times newspaper.

Data revealed that fresh engineering graduates' hiring is likely to surpass 150,000 in FY26, almost double that of FY25. Citing data from mass recruitment firm Teamlease, the report also said that this specific sector is predicted to include 85,000–95,000 freshers to the workforce during this fiscal year.

On the other hand, global IT services firms like Accenture, Capgemini and Cognizant are likely to drive the majority of the freshers hiring, according to research and data firm UnearthInsight.

India's Job Market Outlook

ET earlier also reported that India Inc's hiring sentiments have been boosted for the April-June quarter of 2025 as compared to January-March quarter. This was attributed to a combination of various factors including business expansion as well as a need to invest in technology to stay ahead of the curve.

In this regard, the IT sector shows the strongest outlook with 53%, followed by industrial and material at 48%.

India's hiring outlook is at 43%, significantly higher than 25% outlook for global hiring, according to the ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey.

The survey also revealed that company expansion is the major reason behind driving manpower increases, with 45% of the companies are expanding in size, creating more positions.

Indian Job Market's Growth Rebound

India's job market's upward momentum continued in the last month, registering a 41% year-on-year growth, majorly driven by fresher hiring. According to foundit data, fresher hiring rose by 26% YoY, showcasing demand for entry-level talent.

Among sectors, IT - Hardware and Software led fresher hiring, almost doubling its share from 17% in 2024 to 34% in 2025, the report revealed.
