Before you get into the tedious task of organising a wedding, you need a getaway with your girlfriends. Planning a bachelorette party, as the D-day nears, might seem a tad difficult but there is efficient help at hand. They do not put together regular dos but exclusive ones, which can cost a few millions. These are the stuff of movies! The event-planning company was started by Namrata Rajgarhia around six-years-ago. She says, “Bachelorette parties have changed from being a single night party organised by bride’s friends to a two-to-three-day vacation. Sometimes, people even plan a trip abroad, such as to Thailand or Indonesia.” The most expensive do the 2 Fat Ladies offer is to one of the above-mentioned destinations, for a gang of eight to ten. From the airfare to stay at a luxurious resort, all details are ticked off by the company. The cost of the trip, Rajgarhia says, is usually borne by the bride’s friends and sometimes they ask for customisations, which the 2 Fat Ladies is only too happy to do.

Diwas, a planning company started by a mother-daughter duo two years ago, too believes in stepping away from the routine. The company that caters to women travelers and employ women, also has a healthy appreciation for luxury. Among all the hen parties that they have organised, yacht parties and forest parties are their most popular ones. “There was a bachelorette party organised at a yacht in Delhi where Sherlyn Chopra was invited to perform, and then there were drinks and dancing. This was only an evening party and for that one evening the bride and her friends paid almost ₹1.5 million. Our first-ever planned bachelorette and wedding were also organised on a yacht in Goa and Mumbai. After the party, as dawn broke, the groom was invited to propose to the bride, which was a surprise,” says Mamata Chowdhury, founder of Diwas.

She has also organised parties in Shimla, where they provide stay in a five-star hotel with all facilities such as spa and local drinks thrown in.

Hens party in forests, yachts and pools. Roman Robert, director, Plan Our Party, an event company that started a year ago, says, “In cities such as Delhi, pool parties are catching on for bachelorette dos. These pool parties are often followed by a belly dance show in the evening, and of course, games and drinks.” Again the cost runs to ₹300,000.

So, if there is a wedding around the corner, get your wallets out. There is fun to be had before the big day too.
