Delhi’s air pollution has worsened to a ‘severe’ level, prompting the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to impose Stage III GRAP restrictions across the National Capital Region, limiting construction, vehicles and industrial activities.
All non-essential construction and demolition activities are halted, including earthwork, piling, welding, painting, plastering, tile or flooring work, and operation of Ready-Mix Concrete plants across Delhi-NCR.
In Delhi, transporting construction materials like cement, sand and fly ash on unpaved roads is prohibited. Authorities aim to curb dust and slow the worsening of air pollution.
Industries using unapproved fuels must suspend operations. Stone crushers, brick kilns, and mining activities are ordered to remain closed until further notice to curb pollution levels.
In Delhi and nearby NCR districts, BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel cars, non-essential diesel medium goods vehicles, and interstate diesel buses not meeting CNG, electric or BS-VI standards are prohibited.
Exemptions include persons with disabilities using eligible vehicles. Essential infrastructure projects such as metro, railway, airport, highways, defence, healthcare and sanitation can continue under strict dust management.
In light of severe air pollution, online classes are recommended for students up to Grade 5. Authorities stress hybrid solutions and minimising outdoor exposure during high pollution days.
