The Samsung Galaxy XR headset is priced at $1,700, around ₹1.58 lakh, available in a single 16GB + 256GB variant. Initial sales will focus on the US and South Korea, with India expected to follow in the near future.
Samsung will release the Galaxy XR headset first in the US and South Korea. Other regions, including India, are expected to get the device soon, giving enthusiasts worldwide a chance to experience Samsung’s new mixed reality technology.
Running on the Android XR platform, Galaxy XR benefits from Samsung and Google’s collaboration. It brings mobile flexibility to a headset environment, challenging VisionOS with a growing ecosystem of apps and developer support through the established Android network.
The headset features a micro-OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 109-degree horizontal field of view. Powered by Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 and 16GB memory, Galaxy XR delivers smooth performance for multiple apps, ensuring a premium mixed reality experience.
Weighing 545 grams, Galaxy XR is lighter than Apple Vision Pro and sports a sleek, Apple-inspired design. It offers up to two hours of general use and 2.5 hours of video playback, balancing performance with portability.
Samsung leverages Google’s Gemini AI for Galaxy XR, enabling smart interactions in Maps, Search, and apps. The headset includes a 6.5MP camera capable of capturing 3D photos and videos, enhancing immersive experiences while competing with Apple’s AI-supported Vision Pro.
Galaxy XR also features two-way speakers with woofer and tweeter for immersive audio, and six microphones supporting popular video and audio codecs. This ensures high-quality sound for movies, calls, and applications, matching premium XR headset standards.
