Instagram is rolling out its AI voice translation for Reels in five additional Indian languages, including Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Marathi, allowing creators to dub content more easily.
The AI voice translate feature initially supported dubbing and lip-syncing Reels in English, Hindi, Spanish and Portuguese. With the latest update, five more Indian languages are being added to expand its global reach.
Meta says creators can use AI to make Reels sound fluent in multiple languages. This helps them reach international audiences while maintaining their voice’s authentic tone and style.
Creators can also turn on lip-syncing, which aligns the translated audio with their mouth movements. This makes Reels appear authentic, giving the impression that the creator is speaking the selected language naturally.
When uploading Reels, users will find a “Translate your voice with Meta AI” option. After the update, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi will appear alongside English, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese.
Instagram’s Edits app also now includes Indian fonts, allowing creators to style captions in Devanagari and Bengali-Assamese scripts for Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese, improving text appearance and readability in their Reels.
After updating the Edits app on Android, upload a video, tap ‘Text’ and select fonts. Devices with Indian scripts show them by default, while others can filter to find the desired Indian language.
