This summer, students using Swiggy’s Food on Train service are balancing comfort food with healthier choices. Brands like The Good Bowl and Lunchbox are popular among health-conscious travellers for their wholesome bowls and homestyle meals.
Students craving comfort food are turning to trusted favorites like McDonald’s, KFC, Subway, and Pizza Hut. For those seeking variety, Haldiram’s remains the ultimate crowd-pleaser with its diverse and dependable menu.
One student at Bhopal Junction spent ₹6,070 to order 30 thalis for friends on Gondwana Express, showing how train food orders became group events.
Centrally located, Nagpur sees a high volume of student train journeys connecting major cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. It has become the top spot for students to order fresh Swiggy meals right to their train seats.
Engineering students made up 70% of student orders, led by institutions like IIT Kharagpur, IIT BHU Varanasi and Vellore Institute of Technology.
Many students used Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) and other credit options, making it easier to afford meals while travelling on a budget.
Swiggy has presence at over 100 stations. It also has a partnership with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) for guaranteed seat deliveries.
