India’s festive celebrations have seen a remarkable rise in online food orders. From Raksha Bandhan to Durga Puja, Swiggy’s data shows a consistent surge in sweets, thalis, desserts, and gift options, highlighting the growing role of convenience in festivals.
During September 22–30, 2025, Swiggy recorded a strong surge in Navratri-special orders. Sabudana Khichdi topped 99,200 orders, Vrat Thali crossed 1.03 lakh, and Sabudana Vada neared 70,000. Mumbai and Bengaluru led Khichdi orders, while Vrat Thali was most ordered in Delhi, Gurgaon, Bengaluru, Noida, and Lucknow.
On Ashtami, the total number of orders grew 11.58% compared to last year. During the 8–9 pm fasting break, Swiggy received an impressive 2.2 lakh orders, with the total order value rising nearly 17% over Ashtami 2024.
Meanwhile, Sweet cravings dominated Ashtami, with Choco Lava Cake, Butterscotch Mousse Cake, and Nuts & Dry Fruits Delights topping metro orders. Swiggy’s Bolt platform showed strong engagement, emphasising speed and convenience in festive food delivery across multiple cities.
On the other hand, Swiggy’s Bolt recorded the highest orders from Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi, with notable traction from emerging towns like Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, and Vadodara. Domino’s desserts led popularity charts, and Gurugram saw the fastest delivery at just 181 seconds.
During Durga Puja, Kolkata’s orders rose 11.26% from last year. Between September 28–30, over 60 orders per minute were recorded, peaking at 197 in a single minute. Biryani topped city preferences, with some orders exceeding ₹18,000, showing festive indulgence.
On Ganesh Chaturthi, Swiggy recorded 2,28,102 modak orders nationwide. Maharashtra led with Mumbai (69,240) and Pune (30,433), while other cities like Nagpur, Nashik, and Amravati contributed heavily, highlighting the festival’s widespread culinary engagement.
During Raksha Bandhan, Swiggy saw a 32.4% rise in orders compared to last year, led by Bengaluru and Mumbai. Non-metro cities grew even faster at 38.1%, with Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Patna, Vadodara, and Ludhiana showing remarkable festive participation.
