Blinkit, the quick-commerce arm of Eternal (whose parent company is Zomato), has expanded its instant ambulance service from 5 to 12 vehicles in Gurugram. Launched in January 2025, the service aims to offer rapid medical response across the city.
Deepinder Goyal, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eternal, posted on LinkedIn that Blinkit is building an in-house paramedic training programme to improve both medical aid and empathy, addressing the shortage of skilled emergency responders.
Initially limited to the Golf Course Road area, Blinkit's ambulance service now covers nearly half of Gurugram. This rapid expansion highlights the company’s growing footprint in emergency response within months of launch.
According to Goyal, Blinkit ambulances reached patients within 10 minutes in 83% of the 594 cases handled so far. Speedy response remains a key metric for this emergency service.
Since its launch, Blinkit's ambulance service has handled 594 calls—225 medical emergencies, 294 scheduled transfers, and 75 road accidents. According to Deepinder Goyal, around 50% of these were critical emergencies requiring immediate attention.
Each Blinkit ambulance is staffed with a trained paramedic, an assistant, and a driver. It carries essential emergency equipment like oxygen cylinders, stretchers, wheelchairs, and critical medicines to ensure effective care during patient transport.
Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa had earlier stated on LinkedIn that the initiative is not profit-driven. The goal is to offer affordable emergency care and solve long-term healthcare gaps in Indian cities.
The company plans to scale the ambulance service carefully, aiming to reach all major Indian cities within two years. The focus remains on affordability, accessibility, and quality emergency response.
