IMD forecasts severe heatwave over northwest India including Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, UP and MP. High temperatures likely to continue till April 29.
Drink 2–3 litres of water daily and avoid alcohol or sugary drinks. Dehydration can hit fast, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
Use cotton clothes in light colours. Cover your head with a cap scarf or umbrella to reduce direct exposure to sunlight.
Try to avoid going between 12 PM and 4 PM. Stay in shaded or cool places if you have to go out.
Take frequent cold showers. Use wet cloths on neck and forehead. Fans and ACs help lower body temperature quickly.
Consume fruits like watermelon, cucumber and citrus. Avoid fried or heavy food. Light meals help in better digestion and reduce internal heat.
Apply sunscreen to protect your skin and wear UV-protective sunglasses to shield your eyes from harmful rays, reducing the risk of damage and irritation.
Signs of heatstroke include headache, dizziness, vomiting, muscle cramps and confusion. If any of these appear, seek immediate medical attention to prevent serious health complications and ensure recovery.
