The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts light rain and thunderstorms in Delhi on April 19, with skies turning cloudy by evening as the northwest heatwave begins to ease.
Light rainfall and cloudy skies earlier this week brought down daytime temperatures in Delhi. However, this relief is expected to be short-lived, with warmer conditions forecast ahead.
Regions like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are also expected to see a rise in temperature. IMD warns of possible heatwave conditions in parts of north India during this weekend.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru and several other Karnataka districts have been placed under a yellow alert by IMD. The city is expected to receive rainfall and gusty winds in the coming days.
The weather office has forecast thunderstorms with lightning in Bengaluru. These are expected to be accompanied by winds reaching up to 40 kmph in some areas.
IMD has advised farmers in Karnataka to take precautions during the rainy period, especially during harvesting or fieldwork activities.
According to IMD, Delhi may face rising heat in coming days, while cities like Bengaluru could continue to see thunderstorms.
