Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) has announced a power shutdown in specific areas of Chennai on May 21, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for maintenance activities.
The power cut will impact several localities in Porur, including Muthu Nagar, MRK Nagar, Mugalivakkam Main Road, Lalitha Nagar, EVP Santhosh Nagar, Krishna Nagar.
The scheduled outage is part of TANGEDCO’s routine maintenance work aimed at ensuring the reliability and safety of the power supply infrastructure.
Power supply is expected to resume by 5:00 PM on the same day. However, if maintenance work is completed ahead of schedule, electricity may be restored earlier.
Power will be cut in Tambaram areas like Bharathi Nagar, Kumaran Nagar, Ram Nagar Extension, Venkatraman Nagar and IOB Colony between 9 AM and 5 PM.
Ambattur’s industrial and residential areas such as Burma Colony, SIDCO, Karukku, Thirumullaivoyal and Padi are scheduled for power shutdown on May 21.
TANGEDCO regularly schedules power shutdowns to carry out essential maintenance work. During these outages, staff perform tasks like repairing minor faults and trimming tree branches that interfere with power lines.
