According to Jagranjosh report, India is the largest mango producer globally, cultivating almost 50% of mangoes. Major mango producing states include Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra, with wide cultivation across the country.
Uttar Pradesh contributes about 25–26% of India’s total mango production. Areas like Malihabad and Lucknow are famous for premium varieties like Dasheri, Langra and Chausa.
India ranks first, followed by China, Indonesia, Pakistan and Mexico. While India contributes about 25 million metric tonnes annually, China produces 3.8 million and Indonesia around 3.6 million tonnes.
India grows popular mango types like Alphonso, Kesar, Dasheri and Langra. These varieties are known for their taste, aroma and are exported widely during the mango season.
States like Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar and Gujarat lead mango production. These regions provide suitable conditions and have invested in better farming techniques to boost both quantity and quality.
India’s Alphonso is dubbed “The King of Mangoes” for its taste and aroma. Miyazaki, another rare variety, is one of the most expensive mangoes produced in India.
Apart from India, China and Mexico, other countries in the top 10 list include Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Egypt and Brazil.
While India is the top producer, Mexico is the leading exporter of mangoes. Mexico exports popular varieties like Ataulfo and Tommy Atkins, especially to the US and Europe.
