Jonathan Paul Ive is the iconic designer behind Apple products like the iPhone, iPad and AirPods. Steve Jobs, Apple’s co-founder and visionary leader, worked closely with Ive to shape the company’s legacy design.
He studied industrial design at Newcastle Polytechnic in the UK, which laid the foundation for his design philosophy.
Ive joined Apple in 1992 and spent nearly 30 years there, designing some of the most influential tech products in history.
He left Apple in 2019 to launch his own design firm LoveFrom, aiming to explore new creative opportunities beyond Apple’s ecosystem.
Ive is now working with OpenAI to build new AI hardware, signaling a shift toward intuitive, post-screen consumer devices.
Jony Ive and his team are set to lead design efforts at OpenAI following the acquisition of his startup, “IO,” which is valued at $6.5 billion.
The first product from this partnership is expected to launch in 2026, hinting at a new category in tech. The focus is on creating screen-free, context-aware AI devices designed to blend seamlessly into everyday life.
