After the Pahalgam attack, Colonel Qureshi was given the responsibility of briefing the media about Operation Sindoor. Her articulate and composed demeanour during the briefing provided clarity on the operation’s objectives and outcomes.
She stood alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, representing the Army’s official stand and strategy in a rare high-level tri-services briefing.
Col Qureshi explained the Army’s pre-dawn strikes on 9 terror camps in PoK, detailing time, targets and civilian safety focus during the official media briefing.
Commissioned in 1999, Colonel Sophia Qureshi led India’s team at a multinational military drill in 2016, becoming the first woman to do so in India's history.
Qureshi, led the Indian team at ‘Exercise Force 18’, which was India’s largest-hosted foreign military drill, involving 18 nations.
Her international experience includes serving as a military observer in the United Nations Mission in Congo in 2006. During her tenure, she was involved in monitoring ceasefires and supporting humanitarian efforts in conflict zones.
