Comedian Kunal Kamra has taken a new dig at food delivery giant Zomato after the company's recent tweet seemingly mocked its customers.
Zomato shared a post on X stating, "Some people skip rating delivery partners, yet the same people get upset when their own work goes unrecognised." Comedian Kunal Kamra swiftly responded with sarcasm “Some people skip giving minimum wage & social security, yet the same people get upset when they are sent to prison."
In response a social media user joked "Ab iska share mat gira dena" hinting at the drop in OLA Electric stocks following a clash between its CEO Bhavish Aggarwal & Kunal Kamra.
Kunal Kamra has previously criticised Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal over the working conditions of the platform's delivery partners. In June 2024, Goyal announced that Zomato had achieved a Guinness World Record for hosting the largest first aid lesson at a single venue.
Kunal Kamra challenged Zomato's CEO about the average income and working hours of the company's delivery partners. Posting on X he wrote "Can you disclose the number of delivery partners you have, along with their average income and working hours over the past three months? No, you can’t. But you can share the kilograms of biryani ordered in a day. You’re such a hack, bro."
When Blinkit founder Albinder Dhindsa shared its record-breaking New Year's Eve statistics, highlighting the app's highest-ever single-day orders, Kunal Kamra criticised the platform. He warned against the "dark side" of quick commerce, accusing it of offering "freedom workers can't afford" while paying inadequate wages.
The comedian accused platform owners of being thugs using data as oil without paying for the oil fields and urged Blinkit CEO to reveal the average wages paid to delivery partners over the past year.
Blinkit claims that its delivery partners can earn up to Rs 50,000 per month including incentives and benefits. They receive weekly payments and can choose flexible shifts between 4 to 10 hours. Additional perks include Rs 10 lakh in accidental and medical insurance along with joining bonus of up to Rs 4,000.
