On May 12, 2025, Indian cricketer and former captian, Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket at the age of 36, concluding a distinguished 14-year career in the format.
Born in Delhi in 1988, Kohli made his Test debut in 2011 against the West Indies. His aggressive style and consistency quickly made him a mainstay in the Indian lineup.
Over 123 Tests, Kohli amassed 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries. He led India to their first Test series win in Australia in 2018-19.
Kohli served as India’s Test captain from 2014 to 2022, achieving 40 wins in 68 matches, making him one of the most successful Indian Test captains.
As of 2025, Kohli’s estimated net worth exceeds Rs 1,250 crore, bolstered by endorsements, business ventures, and his cricketing salary as reported by Times Now.

In 2016, Virat Kohli purchased a 7,171 sq. ft. sea-facing apartment on the 35th floor of Omkar 1973 in Worli, Mumbai, for Rs 34 crore. The luxurious residence offers panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and features four bedrooms, a private gym and an expansive terrace.
Virat Kohli said Test cricket tested and shaped him deeply. “It’s not easy to step away, but it feels right. I’m walking away with immense gratitude.” he added in his Instagram post.
