The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched an Aadhaar app offering face authentication, biometric locking and QR sharing, enabling residents to securely access and share their Aadhaar details anytime on smartphones.
UIDAI’s new Aadhaar app lets residents carry their digital identity securely, offering enhanced security, paperless access, face authentication and QR sharing, making it easy to use anytime, anywhere on smartphones.
The Aadhaar app lets residents view and share their QR code, scan others’ codes, check recent transactions, authorised history and verify if their Aadhaar status is active, all securely on smartphones.
The Aadhaar app offers multiple features for residents, including managing up to five profiles, secure biometric locking, viewing updated profile data, sharing QR codes for paperless verification, and offline QR-based access anytime.
Biometric locking ensures fingerprint and iris data stay secure. Once enabled, users must temporarily unlock or disable the lock to authenticate, preventing misuse and keeping Aadhaar authentication safe on smartphones.
The earlier mAadhaar app was limited to mobile use only. UIDAI’s new Aadhaar app enhances functionality with improved security, multi-profile support and offline verification. Details on all differences are yet to be fully clarified.
The Aadhaar app lets users add up to five profiles per device, including family members sharing the same registered mobile number. Only one profile stays active at a time and creating a profile on another device deactivates and deletes the previous profile.
To download the aadhaar app from the official source. Send an SMS from your Aadhaar-registered mobile number, complete face authentication, and set a 6-digit numeric password to register your profile.
Only one Aadhaar profile can be active per device. Creating a profile on another device with the same mobile number automatically deactivates and deletes the profile from the previous device whenever any operation is attempted.
