US President Donald Trump has announced a $100,000 fee for each H-1B visa applicant, effective September 21, 2025, to remain in place for 12 months unless extended.

Specialized scientists and engineers in Science, Technology, Engineering fields with limited US capacity may be eligible for fee exemptions to support innovation.
Roles in energy, aerospace, and other essential infrastructure sectors may qualify for exemptions, ensuring industries critical to the US economy and security continue operations.
The policy aims to attract the most qualified foreign professionals while limiting low-wage hiring. DHS will prioritise high-skilled workers, and agencies will review the rule after one year for potential extension.
