Shark Tank India Season 5 started with a lot of excitement, featuring three entrepreneurs pitching their businesses in the first episode. One pitch stood out because it shared both personal struggles and a unique business idea.
Mohit Yadav appeared on Shark Tank Season 5 as a shark. Watching Ravi Gupta pitch for his kidswear brand, Guugly Wuugly, Mohit understood Ravi’s struggle: finding clothes that are both durable and affordable was hard, as cheap clothes wore out quickly and expensive ones were outgrown too fast.
Entrepreneur Ravi revealed the business is currently operating at a loss. Customer acquisition costs are high at ₹550 per order, close to the average selling price. He invested ₹80–90 lakh, taking loans against his home and selling family gold to fund operations.
Relating to Ravi, Mohit opened up about his first children’s clothing business, which failed. He explained how fear of failure can hold entrepreneurs back and related his experience to Ravi’s hard work and financial risks on Shark Tank.
To launch his direct-to-consumer skincare brand Minimalist, Mohit also invested deeply, taking a home loan of ₹1 crore. He risked family security while building a scalable D2C skincare brand. This experience gave him the insight to advise new founders on managing risk and business strategy.
Mohit Yadav is a Chartered Accountant from India, who achieved a Gold Medal and ranked 26th nationally. He built his financial expertise working at top firms like Deloitte and Credit Suisse before becoming an entrepreneur.
Mohit Yadav, co-founder of Minimalist, led the company to rapid growth. In January 2025, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) acquired a 90.5% stake for ₹2,955 crore, marking one of the largest beauty brand exits in India.
Seeing Ravi’s struggles, Mohit reflected on his own early failures in a kidswear business. He encouraged staying flexible, taking calculated risks, and exploring new opportunities, sharing lessons from his journey to inspire and guide budding entrepreneurs.
