India’s internet subscriber base crossed 100 crore by June 2025, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) stated in its latest quarterly report. This 3.48% rise from 96.91 crore in March highlights rapid growth in digital adoption and nationwide connectivity.
Out of 100.28 crore subscribers, 97.97 crore used broadband connections while 2.31 crore relied on narrowband. The clear preference for broadband shows rising demand for faster, high-speed internet across cities and semi-urban areas.
Wired internet connections accounted for 4.47 crore subscribers, whereas wireless dominated with 95.81 crore users. The preference for wireless reflects India’s mobile-first internet landscape, driven by affordable smartphones, expanding 5G rollouts, and accessible mobile data plans.
Meanwhile, urban internet subscribers in India numbered around 57.94 crore by June 2025, while rural subscribers stood at 42.33 crore.
The monthly average revenue per User (ARPU) for wireless services in India stood at ₹186.62 during the March–June 2025 quarter. The average minutes of usage (MOU) per wireless subscriber each month was 16.76 hours, equal to 1,006 minutes.
Average wireless data usage per subscriber in the quarter was 24.01 GB per month. The average revenue realisation per GB of wireless data stood at ₹8.51.
India’s total wireless subscriber base, including mobile and 5G FWA, increased by 71.20 lakh during the quarter. Subscribers rose from 116 crore at the end of March 2025 to 117 crore by June 2025, registering 0.61% growth over the previous quarter.
Pure mobile wireless subscribers grew by 60 lakh during the March–June 2025 quarter. The base increased from 115 crore at March-end to 116 crore by June-end, recording a growth rate of 0.52% compared with the previous quarter.
