Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former captain of the Indian cricket team , has been granted approval to trademark the title ‘Captain Cool’—a nickname bestowed by fans to reflect his calm leadership style. The trademark covers sports coaching and training services.
Dhoni’s trademark application for ‘Captain Cool’ was officially accepted on June 16, 2025. Earlier this month, he also entered the International Cricket Council (ICC) Hall of Fame alongside legends like Matthew Hayden and Hashim Amla — marking a proud moment in his legacy.
Before Dhoni’s filing, another company—Prabha Skill Sports (OPC) Pvt Ltd—had applied for the ‘Captain Cool’ trademark. However, that application now shows a status of ‘rectification filed’, indicating pending objections and unresolved issues in the registration process.
MS Dhoni is among India’s most successful captains, leading the team to T20 World Cup glory in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013. He also took India to major finals in 2014 and 2015.
Dhoni was the highest-paid player in the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) inaugural 2008 season, earning $1.5 million (₹6 crore). His salary peaked at ₹15 crore between 2018 and 2021, remained at ₹12 crore until 2024, and was ₹4 crore in 2025 after being retained by Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Beyond cricket, Dhoni is a brand icon. He launched his lifestyle brand SEVEN in 2016, co-owns it and also serves as its ambassador . In 2019, he invested in CARS24. He endorses 30+ brands, including Pepsi, Reebok, Gulf Oil, Dream11, Indigo Paints, TVS Motors, Orient and MasterCard, among others.
Dhoni has also invested in real estate and hospitality, including Hotel Mahi Residency in Ranchi. He also founded MS Dhoni Global School in Bengaluru, affiliated with CBSE. These ventures reflect his entrepreneurial vision and commitment to giving back to society.
MS Dhoni owns over 100 motorcycles, including rare models like the ₹47 lakh Confederate X132 Hellcat and ₹34 lakh Kawasaki Ninja H2. His garage also features a Ferrari 599 GTO and Hummer H2.
Dhoni ranks among India’s top-paid brand endorsers, with over 20 active deals. He charges ₹4–6 crore per brand, earning over ₹100 crore annually. Even after retirement, his brand value remains unshaken—Dhoni is truly an empire beyond the pitch.
