Delhi will conduct a large-scale civil defense exercise today, May 7, 2025, involving emergency drills across several districts. The aim is to assess the city’s preparedness for various crisis situations, starting at 4 PM.
The drills will cover more than 55 locations across Delhi. Areas such as Central Delhi, North Delhi, Shahdara and South Delhi including markets, metro stations and public places will be impacted by the exercise.
The primary goal of these drills is to evaluate emergency response capabilities, raise public awareness on safety protocols and test the functionality of alarm systems and evacuation procedures during crises.
Residents will experience air raid sirens, temporary power outages and diversions. Emergency services will be active and public areas will be cordoned off for training purposes.
During the drill, listen to the authorities, stay indoors and avoid restricted zones. Do not panic, spread rumors or hinder emergency operations. Cooperation is key for a smooth exercise.
These drills are crucial for strengthening Delhi’s emergency management systems. They help identify weaknesses in disaster response plans, ensuring better coordination among local authorities and response teams.
According to Business Standard, civil defence and Delhi government teams will oversee the drills to ensure proper implementation and identify any response gaps for future preparedness.
