Outlook Business Desk

Introduction of Trial Reels

Instagram has launched "Trial Reels," a new feature that enables creators to share content with non-followers in order to test its performance

Feature Availability

The feature is currently available only for professional accounts and is limited to select creators who do not have one

Visibility and Sharing

When sharing a Trial Reel, it won’t appear in your followers' Feed, Reels tab, or main grid unless you select the "Share to everyone" option. However, followers may still come across it in other areas, such as DMs or on pages featuring the same audio or filter

Insights and Performance

Creators can view performance insights for their Trial Reel within 24 hours of sharing it, allowing them to assess its success. This feature helps evaluate content that falls outside a creator's usual niche

Effect on Ranking and Views

Trial Reels may take longer to gain views as Instagram works to identify non-followers who might enjoy the content without impacting the performance of regular reels, as they are not part of Instagram’s ranking system

How to Share Trial Reels

To share a Trial Reel, create a reel, toggle on the "Trial" option before sharing, and proceed to post. If you decide to share it with everyone after reviewing the insights, simply select the "Share to everyone" option

Automatic Sharing Option

Creators can enable automatic sharing of Trial Reels with their followers by adjusting the settings on the publish screen. This setting will apply to all future Trial Reels unless manually changed
