Akshay Kumar has initiated legal proceedings against longtime co-star Paresh Rawal, seeking Rs 25 crore in damages over the latter’s abrupt exit from Hera Pheri 3.
The lawsuit, filed through Akshay’s production house Cape of Good Films, accuses Rawal of violating contractual obligations by leaving the film mid-production.
Principal photography for Hera Pheri 3 had commenced in April 2025, with Rawal participating alongside Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty under director Priyadarshan.
Rawal’s sudden departure, citing a lack of interest, has led to widespread discontent among fans and industry insiders, questioning professional commitments.
Addressing speculations, Rawal dismissed claims of creative disagreements or financial disputes as reasons for his exit from the project.
Director Priyadarshan expressed surprise over Rawal’s decision, noting that both Akshay and Suniel Shetty had confirmed Rawal’s participation before filming began.
This marks the first instance in Akshay Kumar’s career where he has taken legal action against a fellow actor, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
The dispute threatens to tarnish the legacy of Hera Pheri, one of India’s most cherished comedy franchises, leaving fans uncertain about its future.
