In 2023, Warner Bros Discovery unveiled plans for a Harry Potter TV series, with each season dedicated to one book, offering an in-depth adaptation over a decade-long project.
The Harry Potter reboot will feature a brand-new cast. While names haven’t been officially announced yet, Warner Bros. promises a fresh ensemble of young talent to play Harry, Hermione, Ron and others, aiming to grow with the series across seven seasons.
Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, who worked on Succession, will lead the Harry Potter series as showrunner and director. They aim to create a smart and faithful version of the original story.
The series is set to become the most expensive TV show ever, with each episode costing approximately $100 million, surpassing previous high-budget productions.
A big part of the budget is being used to build “Potterville,” a detailed set with places like Hogwarts and Diagon Alley. This will help make the series feel more real and true to the books.
The new series will go deeper into J.K. Rowling’s books, showing subplots and character stories that were left out or shortened in the original movies.
Fans around the world are excited for the new series, hoping it brings back the magic and depth of the original Harry Potter books and starts the craze all over again.
The series is slated for a 2026 release, with production underway and expectations high for a launch that meets the franchise’s storied legacy.
