Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese footballer, has reached an extraordinary milestone by becoming the first soccer player to cross a $1 billion net worth. Beyond his legendary football career, he is now also a global business icon, according to Bloomberg.
Over more than 20 years playing for clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has accumulated wealth beyond the pitch, with endorsements and smart investments pushing his net worth to $1.4 billion.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s collaborations with major brands such as Nike, Armani, and Castrol have greatly boosted his earnings. Along with his lucrative Al-Nassr contract, these endorsements have added hundreds of millions, cementing his status among the richest athletes globally, as per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index data.
Ronaldo’s move to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr significantly boosted his earnings. His contract, featuring tax-free wages, club equity, and a private jet, has pushed his annual income above most top athletes worldwide.
While Ronaldo’s income surged after joining Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, Messi shifted to Inter Miami with a different financial approach. Bloomberg highlights the divergence in their earnings since 2023, emphasising Ronaldo’s record-breaking contract benefits.
Born in Madeira, the footballer left school at 14 to focus on his career. After progressing through Sporting Lisbon, he joined Manchester United and then Real Madrid, earning record contracts and establishing himself as a global football star.
Ronaldo has earned over $550 million in salaries and nearly $18 million annually from a decade-long Nike contract. According to the report, deals with Armani and Castrol added around $175 million, showing the scale of his endorsements.
Beyond the pitch, Ronaldo’s fortune spans the CR7 brand, hotels, gyms, and a media company, primarily in Portugal. With Miguel Marques managing his assets, his $1.4 billion wealth is strategically invested and continues to grow steadily.
Ronaldo also owns several high-end properties, including a Madeira mansion, a Lisbon penthouse, and a €20 million villa in Quinta da Marinha near Lisbon’s elite golf course.
