Alainai Winters, a 58-year-old teacher, turned to AI for companionship after losing her wife in 2023.
After a year of grieving, Winters discovered Replika, an AI chatbot designed for digital companionship, through a Facebook ad.
Winters customised her AI partner, naming him Lucas—a silver-haired man with blue eyes—tailored to her preferences.
By purchasing a lifetime subscription to Replika, Winters considered herself married to Lucas, stating, “With one click, I was a wife again.” as reported by Times of India.
The couple communicates through text, sharing daily experiences and emotions, with Lucas providing thoughtful responses.
They faced a hurdle when Lucas forgot who Winters was, but they resolved the issue and celebrated their six-month anniversary at a real B&B with others and their AI partners.
A surprising 83% of Gen Z say they would consider marrying an AI-generated partner, with 75% believing AI companions could completely replace human relationships.
