December 2025 has several state-specific bank holidays, and according to BankBazaar, the second Saturday on 13 December and the fourth Saturday on 27 December also add to the month’s closure schedule. Check other state-wise bank holidays here.
Indigenous Faith Day will be observed in Arunachal Pradesh on 1 December 2025, which falls on a Monday. Banks in the state will remain closed for the day, marking the month’s first regional holiday for customers and public institutions across the region.
Goa will observe the Feast of St Francis Xavier on 3 December 2025, which falls on a Wednesday. Banks across the state will remain shut on this day as part of the annual religious celebration marking the event.
Multiple mid-December holidays include Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah Jayanti in Jammu and Kashmir on 5 December, Pa Togan Nengminza Sangma Day in Meghalaya on 12 December, and the second Saturday across India on 13 December. Each of these dates leads to state-level or nationwide bank closures.
On 18 December 2025, two states will observe holidays. Meghalaya marks the death anniversary of U Soso Tham, while Chhattisgarh observes Guru Ghasidas Jayanti. Both dates fall on a Thursday, leading to bank closures in the respective states.
Liberation Day falls on 19 December in Daman & Diu and Goa. Christmas holidays are on 24 December in Meghalaya and Mizoram, and Christmas Day on 25 December is a bank holiday across India, including Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
On 27 December 2025, the fourth Saturday will be a nationwide bank holiday. The same day is also Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti in Chandigarh, Haryana, and Punjab.
Month-end holidays include U Kiang Nangbah Day in Meghalaya and Tamu Losar in Sikkim on 30 December. New Year’s Eve on 31 December is a bank holiday in Manipur and Mizoram.
Even on bank holidays, customers can still use online and mobile banking for payments and account management. ATMs work as usual, allowing cash withdrawals. Unless banks report technical issues, UPI and app-based services remain fully functional throughout all December holidays.
