To honour Dr B.R Ambedkar birth anniversary. This day is a public holiday in states like Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and many more states.
April 14 is celebrated as New Year in many parts of India. Bengal marks Pohela Boishakh, Odisha celebrates Pana Sankranti, Bihar observes Jur Sital, while Kerala, Assam, and Tamil Nadu celebrate Vishu, Bohag Bihu, and Puthandu. The day is a public holiday in these states.
