Fuel Prices Today

Petrol and diesel rates remained unchanged on Friday, May 1, 2026, despite elevated global energy costs. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said there has been no revision in fuel prices, keeping rates steady for consumers across the country.

No Rate Change

Indian Oil Corporation confirmed that petrol and diesel prices have not been revised even as crude oil costs rise globally. As a result, consumers continue to pay the same fuel prices without any immediate increase.

Export Duty Revised

However, for the fortnight beginning May 1, 2026, the government updated export duties on petroleum products. Diesel now attracts ₹23 per litre, while aviation turbine fuel has been assigned a duty of ₹33 per litre.

Petrol Duty Status

Despite changes in export duties on diesel and aviation turbine fuel, petrol exports continue without any duty. This move comes at a time when international crude oil prices have been rising significantly.

Crude Oil Surge

Crude oil prices have climbed to $126 per barrel, marking a four-year high. This is a sharp rise from around $73 per barrel before the war, increasing pressure on fuel pricing decisions.
