Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS-2025) in Greater Noida, joined by CM Yogi, ministers, and industry leaders. The event highlighted the state’s industrial progress while opening new opportunities for start-ups, exporters, and entrepreneurs.

While speaking at the event , Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is moving towards making “chips to ships” by boosting domestic manufacturing and defence production. This approach strengthens research, innovation, and lays the foundation for long-term economic growth and self-reliance.

Make in India

Modi doubled down on the 11-year-old 'Make in India' initiative, calling India’s growth attractive despite global disruptions. He stressed that self-reliance through Atmanirbhar Bharat is essential to ensure that the country’s future progress is not compromised.

Self-Reliance Push

Highlighting the need for reduced dependence, Modi said no nation can achieve growth by relying on others. He urged industries to innovate and manufacture locally, ensuring that everything possible is made in India rather than imported.

Defence Manufacturing Boost

Modi highlighted that India will soon start production of AK-203 rifles, in collaboration with Russia, in Uttar Pradesh. He added that India is building a vibrant defence sector with an ecosystem ensuring components proudly carry the 'Made in India' mark.

Fintech Inclusion Drive

Emphasising digital inclusion, Modi said India’s fintech platforms like UPI and Aadhaar are empowering both big businesses and small vendors. From malls to tea stalls, people across the country are embracing digital payments, creating progress that reaches everyone.

UP Manufacturing Power

Praising Uttar Pradesh’s industrial growth, Modi highlighted that 55% of India’s mobile phones are produced in the state. He said UP will also play a key role in semiconductor manufacturing and defence through a new corridor and partnerships.

Modi inaugurated UPITS 2025, where over 2,250 exhibitors are showcasing their products and services. He also noted Russia's role as a partner country, reinforcing the long-standing economic partnership between India and Russia, apart from highlighting opportunities for Indian businesses across global markets.

Digital Market Access

The Prime Minister also praised the GeM portal, where over 25 lakh sellers now supply to the government. He said small traders, once excluded, are now empowered to directly reach buyers, helping India advance toward its vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath also praised the next-generation GST reforms, calling them a “Diwali gift.” He said the reforms revived consumer demand, boosted market activity, and strengthened local industries like the One District One Product scheme, supporting farmers, traders, and small businesses.
