OpenAI has rolled out GPT-5.4 Cyber, a specialised variant of its GPT-5.4 model built for defensive cybersecurity tasks. It helps organisations detect threats and improve protection against evolving cyber risks.
GPT-5.4 Cyber is a tailored version of GPT-5.4 built for defensive cybersecurity tasks. It helps detect threats, improve system security and supports organisations in safeguarding critical infrastructure and everyday digital services from evolving cyber risks.
OpenAI said in a Tuesday blog post that GPT-5.4 Cyber is being rolled out ahead of more advanced models expected in the coming months, with training specifically refined for defensive cybersecurity use cases and applications.
The company said it wants to make advanced defensive cybersecurity tools available to legitimate users of all sizes, including those protecting critical infrastructure, public services and the digital systems people depend on every day.
GPT-5.4 Cyber relaxes refusal limits for approved security work and adds binary reverse engineering, helping experts analyse compiled software for malware, vulnerabilities and system strength without requiring source code access.
GPT-5.4 Cyber is not available on ChatGPT and is being rolled out in a controlled manner to vetted security vendors, organisations and researchers under the Trusted Access for Cyber programme introduced earlier this year.
Individual users can request GPT-5.4 Cyber through chatgpt.com/cyber after completing identity verification. Enterprise teams need to apply via their authorised company representatives to gain approval for access under the system’s controlled rollout process.
GPT-5.4 Cyber supports Zero-Data Retention use cases where organisations access it via third-party platforms, OpenAI said. In such setups, the company has no visibility into user data or requests, while safeguards are continuously improved to reduce risk.
