Anthropic has launched a beta version of Claude for Microsoft Word, expanding its enterprise productivity reach. As per the report, it positions Claude as a competitor within Microsoft’s ecosystem, focused on document creation and editing workflows.
Claude for Word allows users to query documents directly and get responses backed with clickable citations tied to exact sections. This makes it easier to confirm details and move through lengthy files during review and analysis work.
Users can modify selected text while keeping formatting intact, including numbering, layout and styles. A tracked changes feature helps them review edits clearly and accept or reject each revision for improved accuracy and document control.
Claude can engage with comment threads in Word documents by updating referenced text and replying directly within comments. It also clarifies the changes made, helping improve teamwork and reducing repeated exchanges during document review processes.
Meanwhile, Anthropic is also targeting legal, finance and corporate workflows where Claude helps review contracts, summarise terms, detect deviations from standard clauses and highlight potential dealbreakers to support faster and more accurate decisions.
Other use cases include refining contract language to ensure mutual terms, applying standard clauses and resolving reviewer comments directly within documents, helping teams maintain consistency and reduce manual review effort across large-scale enterprise workflows.
Claude for Word is currently in beta and limited to Team and Enterprise plan users. Anthropic is focusing on organisations first, prioritising workplace adoption over individual users during this early rollout phase across industries.
Anthropic has already expanded Claude into tools like Excel and PowerPoint, reflecting a wider strategy to bring AI into commonly used workplace apps beyond Word, strengthening its presence across enterprise productivity and collaboration suites.
With this launch, Anthropic moves beyond developer tools, positioning Claude as an enterprise assistant used in daily workflows across legal, finance, HR and operations to improve productivity, speed and efficiency across organisations globally.
