American electric carmaker Tesla is lining up India as a future destination for its Optimus humanoid robot, with Elon Musk’s company building momentum around a well-timed debut.
Tesla Asia Pacific head Isabel Fan said during a Mumbai interaction that India remains an important market and the company plans to introduce the Optimus robot when the timing aligns.
Tesla sees Optimus as a multi-purpose solution that, she added, can handle hazardous tasks, manage household work and support healthcare needs, positioning it as a practical everyday assistant.
Isabel highlighted that humanoid robots are expected to become a significant part of daily life, underlining Tesla’s confidence in robotics shaping future consumer and industrial ecosystems.
Isabel Fan also indicated that Tesla plans to introduce its products in India in line with other markets when conditions are suitable, reinforcing its long-term commitment to expand presence in the country.
Meanwhile, Tesla is preparing to begin large-scale production of its humanoid robot in the United States later this year, signalling a significant step towards expanding its global rollout plans.
Additionally, Tesla is also exploring opportunities in energy solutions for India which Isabel described as a key pillar of global expansion, alongside plans like Starlink satellite internet rollout in the market.
