State Bank of India (SBI) plans to hire around 3,500 officers this year to strengthen its operations and enhance customer service across its extensive branch network nationwide.
The bank has already hired 505 Probationary Officers in June and is processing applications for a similar number, as confirmed by SBI Deputy Managing Director Kishore Kumar Poludasu.
Around 1,300 specialists have been selected to oversee IT and cybersecurity operations, while recruitment for 541 more PO vacancies is underway through a multi-stage evaluation process.
SBI is considering recruiting around 3,000 circle-based officers this year, Kishore Kumar Poludasu said, as part of its broader plan to hire nearly 18,000 employees across all categories.
In the first quarter, SBI hired 13,455 junior associates and 505 probationary officers. Kishore Kumar Poludasu said the bank aims to raise women’s workforce participation to 30% within five years.
Kishore Kumar Poludasu said women form 33% of frontline staff and 27% of total employees. SBI aims to raise this to 30% through focused diversity and inclusion efforts.
With over 2.4 lakh employees, SBI promotes an inclusive workplace where women thrive through leadership training, work-life balance initiatives, and programmes ensuring dignity and equal growth opportunities, he said.
Highlighting SBI’s women-focused measures, Kishore Kumar Poludasu said the bank offers creche allowance, return-to-work training, and its flagship ‘Empower Her’ programme to mentor and prepare women for future leadership roles.
