In 2024, India’s demand for quick deliveries surged, with Swiggy Instamart transforming shopping habits, as consumers ordered everything from essentials to festive items in just 10 minutes. Here are the trends and consumer behaviors that reigned 2024.
Delhi and Dehradun residents spent over Rs 20 lakh each, stocking up on atta, milk, and oil. The most ordered items included milk, curd, dosa batter, chips, and soft drinks, with 1 in 15 orders featuring milk and 1 in 5 including fruits or vegetables.
A Mumbai user spent Rs 15 lakh on pet supplies, while a Chennai resident splurged Rs 1.25 lakh on electronics like gaming earphones and smartwatches. In May, a Hyderabad shopper spent Rs 35,000 on mangoes.
From 4-7 am, orders were dominated by milk, veggies, and eggs. Late-night (10 pm-4 am) saw a rise in ice cream, cold drinks, and chips, while evening orders (8-9 pm) focused on sanitary pads and pain relief items in November.
During Dhanteras, an Amdavadi spent Rs 8.3 lakh on gold coins, and over Rs 45 lakh worth of brooms were ordered for Diwali cleaning. Delhi spent Rs 4.6 lakh on poker chips, while Mumbai ordered 31 rakhis in a single Raksha Bandhan purchase.
Bengaluru ordered puja essentials, party supplies, and 2.7 lakh toothbrushes. Mumbai spent Rs 8.2 lakh on tonic water and led umbrella purchases. Delhi spent Rs 60 crore on instant noodles and chips, while Vizag saw a user spend Rs 27,742 on toys.
Late-night orders in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad featured items like masala chips, Kurkure, and flavored condoms between 10-11 pm. Kochi set a record with the fastest delivery in 89 seconds for bananas and amaranthus
Canada had the highest number of international orders for loved ones in India, primarily for milk, dosa batter, and water.
