Tech Layoffs Surge

In 2025, over 218 tech firms worldwide cut nearly 1.12 lakh jobs, according to Layoffs.fyi. From big players to startups, layoffs surged as automation, artificial intelligence, and a slowing global economy reshaped the technology workforce.

Amazon Layoffs

Amazon has begun one of its biggest job reductions ever, slashing nearly 14,000 corporate roles or 4% of its workforce. CEO Andy Jassy said the layoffs, affecting HR, cloud, and operations, reflect Amazon’s renewed focus on AI investments and a leaner management structure after pandemic overexpansion.

Intel’s Massive Layoffs

Intel is cutting around 24,000 jobs globally, accounting for nearly 22% of its workforce, as part of a major restructuring plan. The layoffs will mostly affect its facilities in the United States, Germany, and Poland, driven by falling PC demand and rising competition from Nvidia and AMD.

TCS Job Reductions

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest technology firm, has laid off nearly 20,000 employees in its biggest job reduction to date. The company blamed automation, artificial intelligence adoption, and skill mismatches, mainly affecting mid and senior-level positions, bringing its overall workforce to the lowest since 2022.
