OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Health, a dedicated experience within ChatGPT designed to help users better understand health, medical information and wellness, developed in collaboration with physicians.
In a blog post, OpenAI said health and wellness rank among ChatGPT’s most-used categories, with more than 230 million users globally seeking health-related information every week.
ChatGPT Health builds on existing usage by delivering responses informed by personal health context, helping users play a more active role in managing their health and wellness.
Users can securely connect medical records and wellness apps such as Apple Health, Function and MyFitnessPal, helping ChatGPT explain test results and support appointment preparation.
The feature also offers guidance on diet and workout routines, while helping users understand insurance trade-offs based on their healthcare patterns and available data.
OpenAI says users remain in control of their health data, with health memories kept separate and the ability to view or delete stored information at any time.
Health conversations are encrypted, compartmentalised and protected with added safeguards, while OpenAI says these interactions are not used to train its foundational AI models.
Users can sign up for a waitlist to request access to ChatGPT Health. Once approved, the feature can be accessed from the Health section in ChatGPT’s sidebar.
OpenAI says users can also add custom instructions within Health to guide what ChatGPT focuses on, avoid specific topics and customise how health-related responses are framed.
