Bathing suite

Time to turn your designer bathroom into a luxurious refuge with Gessi, Kohler, Axor and Perrin & Rowe

When you envision the home of your dreams, you imagine giving it that impeccable luxurious appeal right from your drawing room — those pretty chandeliers, high-end antiques and well furnished interiors. And then master bedroom has its own long list of amenities reflecting your personal style. So why should your bathroom be void of a complementary opulence? Luxury bathroom designers like Gessi India, Kohler India, Axor, and Perrin & Rowe are visualising that perfect bathroom design to harmonise magnificence with utility.

Designing exclusivity

Gessi India has revolutionised bathroom designing by combining high levels of technology, impressive product quality with beauty and functionality. The brand offers creations ranging from designer faucets to posh sanitaryware and customised shower systems, making sure you never compromise on luxury. To add to the beauty, the tiles are cut in unique shapes and feature iconic symbols, for you to make the most of your own personal space. But how can one ensure utmost exclusivity? “One of our designs has the shower area made of gold with a multifunctional, hand shower, body shower and thermostatic mixer,” says Abhinav Khandelwal, MD, Gessi India. The unique design, priced between Rs.250,000 to Rs.300,000, also features taps made of chromed brass with a chrome silvered finishing and a white ceramic washbasin.

If you are amongst those who cannot comprise on exclusivity, utility and luxury, Axor should be your immediate go-to option. Axor, like its tagline — a bathroom that celebrates time beautifully — makes sure you do not compromise on visual appeal. However, what steals the limelight is the Axor Massaud Bathtub. Priced at Rs.10 lakh, the bathtub is made of polyester and polished with white scratch-resistant gel coat finish. “The free-standing bath tub resembles a lake when water gushes from the mixer in the form of a waterfall and aims to give a feel of nature in the bathroom,” reveals Anitha Sharma, general manager — marketing, training and technical services, Hansgrohe India.

When it comes to exclusive designing of bathroom accessories, Perrin & Rowe have carved a niche for themselves with their Monobloc basin mixer. Priced at Rs.3 lakh, the basin mixer is designed using low lead brass and plated to a thickness that exceeds industry standards. It is handcrafted in UK and has unique, flexible handle constructions for easy installation and usage. Their bathroom collection also includes a full decor range shower set including rain bars, sprays, valves, etc.

Magnificence overloaded

With over sixty years’ experience in the manufacture of premium taps and bathroom fittings, Tetard-Haudiquez-Grison Paris (THG), is the epitome of French luxury. The crystal appliqué faucet fixtures are the brand's specialty, aiming to make every bathroom elegant, graceful and stylish. “We offer more than 100 different luxurious tap designs drawn from modern, classical, retro, baroque and traditional collections,” says Michel Gosse, president and MD, THG Paris, that has adorned the likes of the Majestic in Cannes, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai and the EmiratesPalace in Abu Dhabi. The brand works with marquee designers such as Pierre-Yves Rochon, Jamie Drake, Olivier Gossard, Alberto Pinto, Olivia Putman and Chantal Thomass – as well as premium French brands including Bernardaud, Lalique, Daum, Baccarat and Christofle. Their Pétale de Cristal collection that was created in collaboration with Baccarat, offers crystal handles and accessories that come with an option of clear or gold accented detailing. The design, which also includes crystal applique faucet features, can redefine luxury and set you back by Rs.6 lakh.

Kohler’s designer sink faucets, lavatories, toilets, vanities, performance showers and showerheads, mirrors, bar sinks, utility racks and shower enclosures, too, are a fanatics’ delight. “Our bathroom accessories are designed by the fashion designer duo Shivan and Naresh to celebrate the launch of the luxury Couture collection, with a corresponding resort wear line,” explains Salil Sadanandan, President – India, South Asia and EMEA, Kohler. But is there any way entertainment can be brought into the bathroom? Yes, says Kohler. The brand’s Numi toilet offers personalised features such as lighting, heating and music and sells for Rs.7,28,000. Kohler has also introduced a DTV+™ digital showering system, which starts from Rs.3,49,000 and is a digital thermostatic valve system that gives a multi-sensory showering experience. Another product, The RiverBath whirlpool, brings natural rapids, white-water, and whirlpool settings offering a full range of water massage treatments at the touch of a button in a spacious bathtub sized for multiple bathers, adds Sadanandan.
