BharatPe’s chief business officer Nishant Jain has resigned from the firm and joined as an executive director and CBO (assisted business) at discount broking firm Angel One.

Prior to joining BharatPe in May 2020, Nishant Jain had worked with Pepsi, Coca Cola and was also associated with Zomato, where he led the sales and growth. At BharatPe, he was responsible for scaling up the merchant base to 10 million in 2020.

"The past 3.5 years with BharatPe have been nothing short of extraordinary. It has been a thrilling experience, filled with the satisfaction of making a meaningful impact," he wrote while announcing his departure on Linkedin.

In early 2022, BharatPe faced a major setback when its founder, Ashneer Grover, and co-founder Bhavik Koladiya, who played a crucial role in the company's technology, both departed. This triggered a series of more than a dozen resignations, mainly within the technology and product divisions.

Among the major departures were Vijay Aggarwal, the chief technology officer, Nehul Malhotra, head of consumer product (PostPe), Rajat Jain, chief product officer for lending and consumer products, and Geetanshu Singla, vice-president of technology. They all left BharatPe to pursue their own ventures.

The company's challenges continued into 2023 with the resignation of its chief executive officer, Suhail Sameer, in January, and its chief operating officer, Dhruv Dhanraj Bahl, who stepped down from the position last week.
