SLMG Beverages Pvt Ltd, the Coca-Cola bottler in India, is planning to spend over Rs 100 crore this year to promote sustainable solutions to combat climate change, as well as to ensure safety and protect the environment. The company will spend Rs 75 crore on sustainability initiatives and another Rs 25 crore on ensuring quality.

SLMG Beverages Pvt. Ltd.'s Chairman and Managing Director, S. N. Ladhani, emphasises the importance of sustainability in the company's business strategy. He believes adhering to sustainable practices would be crucial for tackling current and future challenges.

According to a statement by Ladhani, the company's water, packaging, and climate goals are interconnected. By creating a circular economy for packaging, we can reduce our carbon footprint.

SLMG is committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 as part of Coca-Cola's global initiative to create a "World Without Waste." The company aims to play a central role in reducing its environmental footprint and tackling climate change.

To achieve this target, SLMG plans to deploy 20 additional Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) in Agra in addition to the existing 12. The company also plans to cover 70 percent of its electricity consumption with solar energy and focus on using clean energy solutions.

They plan to expand their electric vehicle (EV) fleet from 2,000 to 5,000 by 2025 and 10,000 cars by 2027. SLMG is also purchasing large EVs for distribution and warehousing to align with the global trend towards sustainable transport.
