Empower your employees: Teams and individuals need to be empowered to take decisions. This should be coupled with accountability, review and feedback mechanisms. People should know that they can take action and influence key result areas.

Create a transparent environment: It is vital that people work in teams and bring issues to the table. Brushing things under the carpet only tends to make them come back with compound interest at a later point in time. It’s essential to take proactive action.

Encourage dialogue: Employees should be able to identify issues and discuss all points. A healthy dialogue with all stakeholders enables you to take appropriate action to resolve a conflict.

Separate professional and personal: Organisational engagement should be professional and not a statement of personal relationship and bias. When dialogue, discussions and feedback are driven on a professional note, people tend to respect the decisions and actions much more. Acceptance of inputs then becomes more institutionalised.

Agree to disagree: After you have engaged in a dialogue, you can analyse the situation and make a decision. But, there could still be differences of opinion and disagreements. One has to ensure that the inputs for decision making are the right ones for the organisation. Thereon, it is very important to ensure that there is no politicking on the matter.
